New Balance 766 Named 'Editor's Choice' By Runner's World

BOSTON, January 21, 2005 – Runner’s World magazine has named the New Balance 766 running shoe an “Editor’s Choice” award winner in its Spring 2005 Shoe Buyer’s Guide (March 2005).

“It’s a good choice for bigger runners or heavy heel-strikers because it features Abzorb®, New Balance’s high-end cushioning foam,” said the Runner’s World editors.

The 766 is the most recent update in the very successful New Balance 760 series. The 766 is designed with innovative New Balance technology including the TS2® medial post, Stability Web® system, and Abzorb® cushioning in the heel and forefoot. The 766 also features an Acteva® midsole that resists compression and a dual-rubber outsole (constructed with solid and blown rubber) to ensure long-wearing durability.

This combination of New Balance technology provides runners with the best balance of comfort, stability, durability, and cushioning possible. As one tester commented, “I liked the support. I ran a 10-mile race without my orthodics and felt no soreness.” The 766 is available in a regular and water resistant version.

The water resistant version features a darker-based color-way that has been treated to create a water-resistant upper that resists moisture and keeps feet dry even in wet weather running environments. Runner’s World writes, “Thanks to a water-resistant mesh upper and a fully gusseted (attached) tongue, the 766s should keep your feet free of spring rain and road debris. You’ll also like the no-slip laces.” The no-slip lace design ensures shoes stay tied and as with all in-line New Balance shoes, the 766 is available in multiple widths and sizes.

“Our primary driving goal is to always provide runners with highly functional, innovative, and technical products,” says Eric Vassall, product manager, running at New Balance. “We are extremely proud to have Runner’s World® recognize the hard work and diligent efforts of our team.”
