Our church was participating in a mission trip to Honduras
and I really wanted to be part of the team, but I wondered
how much I would be able to contribute since I was lugging
around an extra 30-40 pounds and my back hurt all the time.
I decided to start walking and eating healthy. I asked God
to help me lose 30 pounds and to walk everyday. I knew this
was the only way I'd stick with this program. I began walking
on February 1st of this year and have walked every day since.
I walk at the high school where I am Athletic Director/Head
Football Coach and Assistant Principal so I have no excuse
for not walking in inclimate weather. As of March 8th, I had
reached my goal of losing 30 pounds. I have gone from the
42x32 pants that I bought in January, to a 36x32 size. I am
walking about 1-1/2 hours a day.... with my music cd's and
my wife has even started a walking program of her own since
she has seen the results of this new activity. We have been
eating healthy meals and even found sugar-free/fat-free desserts
to enjoy. At this pace, I will be able to walk to work this
summer when I begin working on the football field. I predict
it will be the best summer practice of my life.
