Determining Your Stride

1.
To determine your stride, you must first determine your stride length. When you take a step, your stride is the distance between your back foot's toe and your front foot's toe. (fig. 1)

2. To find out what your stride is, walk or run 10 steps along something in which you know the measurement of (such as a rug, wall or a drawn out tape measure). (fig. 2)

3. The distance from the first step's toe to the 10th step's toe is your total step distance

4. Divide your total step distance by 10 to get your average stride length.
